The Wedding Feast

The wedding celebration was the highlight of a Jewish marriage.

After the groom returned for his bride, after she was brought joyfully into his father’s house, the real celebration would begin — a grand, joyful feast that could last for days.

This wasn’t a somber event.

It was the fullest expression of joy, community, and covenant fulfillment.

It was the moment everyone had been waiting for — the beginning of a new life, celebrated with laughter, song, and overflowing abundance.

The Bible tells us: this is our future.

A wedding feast is waiting for us, too.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready… Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!”

— Revelation 19:7, 9 (NIV)

A Table Already Set

The story of the Bible doesn’t end with judgment.

It doesn’t end with separation.

It ends with a wedding.

It ends with a feast.

It ends with the people of God gathered together with Christ — redeemed, restored, beloved — seated at a table prepared before the foundation of the world.

Every tear will be wiped away.

Every sorrow will be healed.

Every longing will be satisfied.

Living with the Feast in View

We are not a people wandering without hope.

We are a people moving toward a feast — moving toward a celebration that will never end.

The more we live with the feast in view, the more we can endure the waiting.

The more joyfully we can walk through seasons of trial and heartache.

Because we know the end of the story:

The Bridegroom wins. Love wins. We are His.

Reflect and Respond

Do I live today with the certainty of the joy to come?

How might remembering the Wedding Feast shape the way I endure hardships?

In what ways can I bring glimpses of that coming joy into my life — and into the lives of those around me — today?

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You that the story ends with joy.

Thank You for the promise of the Wedding Feast, where every sorrow will be turned to dancing.

Give me the strength to endure the waiting, the faith to live in hope, and the joy to celebrate even now.

I am Yours, and I rejoice in the promise of the feast to come.

Amen. ♥️
