In ancient Jewish weddings, there was no covenant without a cost.
The father of the groom would pay a bride price — a precious gift offered in love, to honor the bride and her family.
It was not a payment for ownership.
It was a declaration of value.
It said, “You are worth everything to us.”
And so it is with Christ.
There was a price paid for us — a cost so great that only the Son of God Himself could pay it.
“You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV)
A Price Beyond Measure
Our redemption did not come cheaply.
It was not sealed with gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Jesus.
When He went to the cross, it was not merely to suffer; it was to secure a covenant.
It was the moment when the Bridegroom declared, with His very life, that the Bride — you and me — was worth the price.
We are not cheap.
We are not forgotten.
We are treasured.
Living in the Light of the Price
Knowing the price that was paid for us changes everything.
We no longer live as people trying to earn our worth.
We live as people already declared worthy by the love of Christ.
It calls us into gratitude.
It calls us into holiness — not out of fear, but out of deep, joyful response.
The Bride prepares herself not because she must, but because she is loved.
Reflect and Respond
🌼 Do I live as someone who knows they have been deeply, intentionally, sacrificially loved?
🌼 In what areas of my life am I still trying to “prove” my worth, rather than resting in Christ’s finished work?
🌼 How can I honor God with my life as a daily act of love in response to His great gift?
A Prayer for Today
Jesus, thank You for paying the price I never could.
Thank You for seeing me as precious — worth the cost of Your life.
Help me to walk today in gratitude, in faithfulness, and in love, remembering that I belong to You.
Prepare my heart daily to be a Bride ready for Your return.
Amen. ♥️
