Sometimes the Bible leaves breadcrumbs across generations—whispers of a deeper story that only One Author could write. Genesis 40 is one of those moments. On the surface, it’s about Joseph in prison, interpreting dreams. But when we slow down, we begin to see something breathtaking:
• The cupbearer has a dream of restoration—he will live.
• The baker has a dream of judgment—he will die.
• And Joseph, the innocent one, is in the middle of it all.
Bread. Wine. Life. Death.
Does it sound familiar?
At the Last Supper, Jesus breaks bread and pours wine, declaring:
“This is my body, broken for you.”
“This is my blood, poured out for many.”
One leads to life. One to death.
And Jesus is the innocent one, standing between them both.
Joseph didn’t just interpret dreams. He foreshadowed the gospel.
He pointed ahead to another righteous man, falsely accused, waiting for God to raise Him up.
Only God could weave such a story.
The Bible isn’t a bunch of random stories with moral lessons. It’s one beautifully layered narrative, written across centuries, revealing one Redeemer.
From the prison in Egypt to the upper room in Jerusalem, God was telling the same story all along.
And He’s still telling it today.
Takeaway: What if the stories you’re living right now are part of something bigger than you realize? God wastes nothing. Even the prisons of life can point to resurrection.

Prayer:
Father,
Thank You for the way You write beauty into the smallest details. Thank You that nothing in our story is wasted—not even the painful parts.
Help me to see Your hand in the waiting, to trust Your timing when things feel slow or uncertain.
Remind me that every detail, every chapter, every shadow is pointing me closer to Jesus.
Give me eyes to see Your redemptive thread in my life—and boldness to share it with others.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
